Ingredients
- 2 rib-eye steaks, about 1 inch thick
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- Fresh herbs, such as rosemary or thyme (optional)
Method
- Step 1: Take the rib eye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Preheat oven to 150 degrees.
- Step 2: Pat dry the steaks with paper towels and season them generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- Step 3: Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat. Add the vegetable oil to the pan or brush it onto the grill grates.
- Step 4: When the skillet or grill is very hot, carefully place the rib-eye steaks on it, being careful not to overcrowd the pan or grill.
- Step 5: Cook steaks for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust the cooking time to your desired level.
- Step 6: During the last minute of cooking, add fresh herbs, such as rosemary or thyme, to the skillet to infuse the steaks with additional flavour.
- Step 7: Once the steaks are cooked to your liking, remove them from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for a few minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
